Just Hyke Gear I Love: Trail-Tested Favorites

Welcome to my favorite gear page! As someone who’s hiked across continents, summited Kilimanjaro, and leads women-focused wellness retreats, I believe in gear that works hard, lasts long, and helps you feel confident on the trail.
This page is packed with trail-tested favorites I personally use and love. My Favorite Backpack

Why I Love It: This backpack checks all the boxes for a solid daypack:

  • Chest strap
  • Hip belt
  • Side water bottle pockets

The support system makes a huge difference in how you feel after a few hours on the trail. I also like having quick access to my phone and water—so I added my go-to water bottle holder.

Trail Tip: Add a shoulder strap water bottle holder for instant hydration access.

Water Bottle Holder for Shoulder Strap

Why I Love It: This accessory might be small, but it makes a big impact. I use it to carry my water bottle or cell phone so I can hydrate and snap trail photos without digging through my pack.

Naturehike Camp Chair

Why I Love It: Compact, sturdy, and surprisingly comfy—this chair comes with me for car camping, glamping retreats, and even long trail days when I know I’ll want to kick back in comfort. The Naturehike brand offers great quality without breaking the bank.

Helinox-Inspired Ultralight Chair

Why I Love It: If you're ready to splurge a little for ultralight comfort, this Helinox-style chair is worth it. It's one of the most lightweight and durable chairs I’ve tested, and it easily fits into my pack.

Trekking Poles

Why I Love Them: These trekking poles are adjustable from 24” to 55” which makes them ideal for short or tall women, men, and even kids. I love how compact they are when collapsed, and how sturdy they feel on uneven terrain. They're great for joint support, especially on steep downhills, and I never hit the trail without them.

Compact Cooking Systems

Fire Maple Cooking System

Why I Love It: This compact and affordable cooking system is a fantastic alternative to Jetboil. It boils water in about 3.5 minutes, making it a great option for solo hikers or anyone who wants a hot drink or meal fast. It's small enough to pack easily and has held up well in all kinds of weather.

Jetboil Flash Cooking System

Why It's Popular: Jetboil is known for its lightning-fast boil time—just 2 minutes for 16 ounces of water! It’s a favorite among thru-hikers and backcountry campers for its performance and reliability. Both are solid options depending on your budget and speed needs. I keep one of these in my pack anytime I want a hot cup of tea or trail meal without waiting long.

Trail-Tested Footwear

Merrell Women's Moab Hiking Shoes

Why I Love Them: These were my go-to shoes for climbing Kilimanjaro! They offer the perfect blend of stability and comfort with solid grip and ankle support. Paired with the right socks, they helped me stay blister-free for the entire trek.

Smartwool Hiking Socks

Why I Love Them: Good socks are just as important as good boots. I always recommend Smartwool—they wick moisture, prevent hot spots, and keep your feet comfortable all day long.

Hoka Speedgoat Trail Runners

Why I Love Them: When I’m not carrying a heavy pack, these are my favorite shoes for fast hikes and trail running. Lightweight, cushioned, and built for rocky trails—they keep my feet happy mile after mile.

Favorite Tents

Sea to Summit Tent

Why I Love It: This tent has been my shelter through wind, rain, and volcanic ash! We used it in Iceland and were incredibly impressed with how it handled harsh weather. It’s lightweight, easy to pitch, and reliable in all conditions.

Naturehike Tent

Why It's a Great Choice: Naturehike tents are super popular for a reason—they're well-built and affordable. A solid option if you’re starting out or looking for something budget-friendly without sacrificing quality.
