Nature Experience at W.G. Jones State Forest

Wednesday, September 16, 2026
9:30 AM
$15 per person
Pre-registration recommended

Slow down, look closer, and experience the forest in a different way.

Join Just Hyke for a guided approx: 3-mile Nature Mindfulness Walk through W.G. Jones State Forest. This experience is designed to help you step away from the rush of everyday life, slow your pace, and reconnect with the natural world around you.

This is not a fast-paced hike or fitness walk. We’ll move at a slow, comfortable pace with intentional stops along the way to observe nature, take photographs, journal, rest, or simply enjoy a quiet moment in the forest.

What We’ll Do

Along the way, we’ll use simple nature mindfulness invitations to engage our senses and notice the things we often walk right past—the sounds of birds and wind, changing light, interesting plants, colors, patterns, textures, and other small discoveries.

We’ll pause periodically for:

  • Nature observation and mindfulness
  • Photography
  • Journaling or sketching
  • Quiet reflection
  • Rest and enjoying the forest

Participate in as much or as little as you’d like. No photography, journaling, or mindfulness experience is necessary.

Photography

Bring your phone or camera. No special photography equipment is needed.

We’ll use photography as another way to slow down, look closer, and notice what catches our attention. The goal isn’t to take the perfect photograph—it’s to see the forest a little differently.

Journaling

Bring a journal or small notebook if you’d like to write, sketch, or record your observations.

Simple prompts will be offered during some of our stops. Write a few words, fill a page, sketch something you notice, or simply sit quietly and enjoy your surroundings.

Journaling is completely optional.
